Summer Solstice 2013

ImageHappy  Summer  Solstice!

Started out the early morning on the back patio surrounded by beautiful flowers and fruit trees with a nice dose of yogic stretching and chanting. The sprinkles started before the mats went down, nice and gentle and of course kicked in to a steady rain. It was perfect even though eventually we had to throw in the towel (or grab the towel) and move indoors. Aromatic yogi tea and cool summer rain is an enticing combo. The morning now sits quiet under a gray sky, the land wet and watered. Birds are beginning to sing and it is time for breakfast.

I am thankful for the length of days, long light in the sky and the rich sun energy. I am thankful for the sounds of the day, the scents and textures, the human-ness through which I experience their tangible qualities.  I am thankful for chant music and the beauty of sound current which transcends and elevates. I am thankful for yoga and breath, through which the disciplines of my life are engaged over and over and limitations are challenged and overcome. It doesn’t matter whether I am happy in a day, sad or otherwise, I have the day. I have the day, to make of it what I choose. It is a gift of life. Have a day filled with whatever you choose, from the first full breath of morning to last settled breath taking you into sleep. My your day bring life.

My Muse & Me ~ A Feminine Expression

My dear friend Guru Kirn Kaur from New Mexico, took up her brush and has been lost to this passion since brush stroke and painted merged on canvas. An innately creative woman, this expression has awakened the creative muse within her in a way she has not experienced before and she is in LOVE!
Shiloh Sophia McCloud is an amazing artist and teaches workshops guiding women into a place of expression which is deeply moving, healing and expressive. The art created is rich and overflowing with beautifully invoking and evoking images from the soul, deeply healing the feminine in us all.
Guru Kirn mentioned that many of the pieces in the video were created by women who had never painted before. What amazing potential we all have sitting within the well of our creativity.
Take time to sit back and be present with the parade of feminine images presented through this video. The music is beautiful and the artwork stunning. A meditative break in the midst of your day. Enjoy.

Sheila Kelley & The New Wave of The Sacred Feminine ~ A Ted Talk

A woman I know was invited by Sheila Kelley, founder of S Factor to come and take a complimentary S Factor class. She fell in love with S Factor and immediately enrolled. She called me in tears saying the classes touched and moved something deep inside of her so profoundly she could not let it go. That a profound healing of her femininity and sexuality was unfolding moment by moment. When I last saw her I noticed not only how toned her body was but how confident she felt about herself, how she moved with a freedom and beauty and a smile on her face. I did not once hear her ask me “do I look okay in this, do you think I look fat, I hate this or that part of my body”. Her self-deprecation was just not there. She talked with love and enthusiasm about her love for S Factor and how thankful she is everyday that this came to her, that she gets to dance this beautiful body story, discover her “erotic creature” and play on the pole. With not once ounce of self-consciousness or embarrassment she offered to show me some of her dance. It was amazing and so beyond gorgeous. I am so pleased for her, for her ability to take the healing of her own sensual/sexual being in hand and own who she is.
I was recently sent this video of Sheila Kelley’s Ted Talk. Wow!! There is so much I could say here but Sheila says it all… and so passionately. Take time to watch, and pass it on.

Divine Mother ~ A Mothers Blessing

Divine Mother ~ A Mothers Blessing, Part III of the Divine Feminine Sacred Goddess Series.

Creating these videos are a time consuming labor of love, often taking months to gather and sort through images, including only those which truly express the particular energy I want to have resonate from the piece in alignment with the Sacred. The music is Mothers Blessing from Liberation’s Door by Snatam Kaur. It is very beautiful and invokes a heart essence of love and more love.

Morning Prayers

It has been quite awhile since I posted a poem. Here is a one I wrote recently after my morning meditation time.

Morning prayers sit silent. Hear the breath, feel the eyes close, air on the skin; the stillness of the body.
Prayers move in and out on the stream of the breath. Anything and everything which could ever be spoken,
Every story which molds, enters and exists in a lifetime is birthed and released in one breath … after another and another.
Empty of the sound of ones own voice, prayer rises up and around, perfumed incense in Union with the Divine on the inhale and exhale.
What more can be said.
Oh yes, Oh yes. I pray with my words, my voice, heart. So many prayers spoken in so many ways with so many words, the litany of mantra.
Endless emotions, supplications, intercessions; in the car, late at night/early early morn, on the knees, face to the floor, during a walk,
Out the door, in the in-between of anything and everything. Endless, unceasing, upon the lips…
In silence the invocation of Pure Presence, the Breath of God echoing upon my own, a call and response. In the Union there is nothing else.
No-Thing in the prayer mala but breath… nothing to fear, or to dream, to hold onto or let go.
Only this moment, this breath, the Breath of Union; a sacred merge.
Nothing else to know or be.

I Create Therefore I Am

If you are a regular reader of my blog you know I am relentless is stirring the creative juices; inciting, inviting, inspiring. Creation is the core of existence and the expression of Infinity. Creativity and artistry surround us everyday from the air we breathe, to the cloth we wear, the sound within our hearing… Creativity is our innate gift and birthright from the embrace of Divinity. We are creation and so we inherently create. We create from how we experience ourselves in the world and beyond the world. Creativity is exciting as it is in relation to our earthly life yet lives beyond time and space and takes us into our infinite self. Creativity is alive with a pulse and purpose released through the collaboration between ourselves and the creative muses which exist as sources of provocation and inspiration. Creativity is organic, elemental, soul inspired, ultimate expression, purposeful ~ purposeless, for the sheer love of the creation.

Artistic expression is the pure form of creativity in motion. Sometimes it is grand, sometimes it is small. Always it is grand, always it is small. We create in our hearts eye, our minds eye before we ever embark upon the outward expression. Art begins in a humble and bold gesture of translating the internal into the external. It is a journey of articulation from vision to tangibility. When completed it will travel a path of its own, as it rides its own scope, its own wave through the collective conscious and unconscious. There is no standard of judgment as art is…period. It is art when we prepare a cup of tea and it is art when we take medium to hand.

We are art, so be Art. As within, so without, the inside and the outside are the same. We are creativity and so therefore art and creativity surround us as well.  We co-operate in the great stewardship of abundance. None are exempt. Art and creativity are not respecters of persons, places or things. And hear this ~ Pure artistic expression is not classist, elitist, gender driven or economically motivated, nor does it bow or bend to powers which be, suffer suppression, acquiesce or defer to an authority outside of ourselves for it is the heart, the true voice of the individual and that cannot be touched no matter what circumstances one may live or what is done to the manifested expression. And once it is envisioned, once it enters the creative course, the heart, mind and expression of even one individual, it is then part of the whole. Once it is whispered, enters dreamtime, drops as a tear into the river of creative nectar, is exhaled on the breath, spoken in prayer and carried upon the current, it becomes. It blossoms forth and its seeds are scattered in the wind to land within the hearts and minds of those with “ears to hears and eyes to see”. Art restores; When broken create collages; mosaics. When whole revel in freedom. Use your senses, be boundless and limitless. Be your soul.

Art heals, balances, provokes. Be inspired. Be the master of your own creations, your own expression. Nothing is static, merge in the course of creative flow. Awaken and grow your creative self. Express your perspective ~ Be brave, Be bold, Hold your own spirit. Participate, elevate, ignite.

WAR ~ We Don’t Need No More Trouble…

“What we need is love to guide us and protect us on…”

War on the outside, war on the inside, war on the street, war in the home, war on the playgrounds, war on the continents; war in the heart, war in the spirit, war in the body, war in the mind. War is waring, war is wearying, war is worrying. War is the robber and thief, war is no respecter of anything animal, vegetable or mineral. War is ego unleashed, war is greed, war is taking. One step in greed is one step into war. All genocide is war. All prejudice is war. All hatred is war.

Tend to the war within, in the everyday conflicts which exist within the human condition. All human emotion and desires if left unchecked and mindless contain the seeds of war, for a war within maybe a tide which goes out… and “we don’t need no more trouble”; I don’t need no more trouble.

Take a pledge to be mindful of the war within and tend to the tides which hold potential to breach shores of trouble… duality, greed, ego, comparison, covetousness… Look to oneself, not our governments to stop war by not taking up arms against oneself or another. Practice right speech, right action, right thoughts which serve the fullness of love, forgiveness and kindness. Agree to disagree, allow confusion, distrust and uncertainty without having to take action against it. Do not force resolution. Find your peace within and let its seed take root and foster in the fertile soil of ONE HEART. Look to oneself in Divine connection/correction and send out flowers of great beauty to lay at the feet of one’s enemies, even if they be our own.

“Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Matthew 7:3

Playing For Change

Color Me Kindness

A compassionate woman extended a beautiful act of kindness towards myself and my husband last night. I was so thankful and filled with gratitude I did a little dance of joy around my kitchen table. Everyday miracles, answers to prayer are extended through kindness everyday, all day from one being to another. Most come in a simple form, for kindness is a humble sharing. Some come in big bold packages for that is the vehicle it arrives in, nonetheless, the giving and receiving end of the gift of kindness leaves its mark upon us. It opens up our hearts and allows the blossoms of love, generosity, and compassion to fill our cup. It is a grand running over as we are filled to the brim. When we extend kindness it is not bound by linear action, it moves forward, backward, sideways, up and below. It moves through, around, beyond. Kindness can be given where there is love or no love, forgiveness or not, anger or peace. It can be present at all times and in all circumstances. Kindness is an endless grace which softens the hardest of hearts, healing in the gentle sweep of its extension; innocence and purity personified. It is truly a hallelujah moment. Sharing kindness brings a gift to others and ourselves, as the old adage is true “In the giving is the receiving”. Pay it forward 🙂

Epic and Extraordinary

I just returned from a long and full 9 day trek. What originally took me out the door and down the road segued into a journey, filled with the unexpected and unknown…

I am in a healing time, the kind that takes one down through the depths, past the roots of beginning, into the future transforming the nature of being. Healing is always available, yet I have found occasionally a vortex opens which allows for greater, more, fullest…and I find myself being propelled into another time and space in which I participate and watch at the same time. It contains this surreal and otherworldly feel and I know I must pay attention. The pressure is on and the crunch requires all of my awareness in the hear and now. Remarkable and fascinating, painful, purposeful, take no prisoners, show no mercy type of advance in which a great expression of love is revealed in the Truth of mirrors.

I note the movements, the light cast and the shadows created. I note the faces and the trickery in the reflections. For me these journeys are always where angels and demons walk side by side. Sometimes they are shape shifters, never revealing their true nature. It is left up to me to decide; friend or fiend.

So I walk and walk and walk some more. Sometimes in my restlessness, in my unknowing it is all I can do. I cannot sit or stand or bow. I dance it out, walk it out…I have to move, keep on moving, keep on journeying into the unknown.

And all this time spring is blooming. Lilacs perfume the neighborhoods, intoxicating, drawing me deeper down the path like Hansel and Gretel to the witch’s house of sugary delights. Where I must peer through the windows, spy out the mirrors; note the witch is another reflection of me and the children also; lost in the woods, in the story, in the miasma of story within story. The pressure, the knowing, the seeing reach a crescendo which drops me, drops me into the heart of the void. Collapsed…drawn out, laid flat; and release, for there is truly nothing I can do. Nothing to change, nothing more to see…and within the nothing I surrender…the stories, the journey, healing, awareness, the teacher, to all which is greater than I and the greatness of I within it all.

In the lost resides the found, in the mirror the truth, in the nothing everything. Inherent in all things is its opposite, and it is all the same. All exists within the same continuum. Within my greatest imperfection is my most profound perfection. Even shit when amended properly composts into the matter needed to augment the growth and fruition of transformation.

I am utterly thankful for this journey and to those along the way who, unbeknownst to them, agreed to participate…and to the one who was the catalyst of it all, I hold you dear; for in your raw and imprisoned truth you could be nothing less than who you are in both the hidden and revealed.

It is in the being, it is always in the being…part of the grand mystery is things are not always as they appear to be. In the compassion, in the heart, truth prevails. In the love, in the openness, in the vulnerability grace is revealed. In the fear, in the shadow, in the contraction we wrestle our demons. In the flash, through the fire we are purified, emerging with awareness and capacity honed through adversity; steel strong, two-edged sharp. Sometimes when I head out the door it is what the day brings, and sometimes I step onto the path of an epic journey, in which when I arrive back home again nothing is the same; forever and a day a new way has begun.

HO’OPONOPONO by Joe Vitale

I’m Sorry; I Love You

Two years ago, I heard about a therapist in
Hawaii who cured a complete ward of criminally insane patients without ever seeing any of them. The psychologist would study an inmate’s chart and then look within himself–to see how he created that person’s illness. As he improved himself, the patient improved.

When I first heard this story, I thought it was an urban legend. How could anyone heal anyone else by healing himself? How could even the best self-improvement master cure the criminally insane? It didn’t make any sense. It wasn’t logical, so I dismissed the story. However, I heard it again a year later. I heard that the therapist had used a Hawaiian healing process called ho ‘oponopono. I had never heard of it, yet I couldn’t let it leave my mind. If the story was at all true, I had to know more. I had always understood “total responsibility” to mean that I am responsible for what I think and do. Beyond that, it’s out of my hands. I think that most people think of total responsibility that way. We’re responsible for what we do, not what anyone else does–but that’s wrong.

The Hawaiian therapist who healed those mentally ill people would teach me an advanced new perspective about total responsibility. His name is Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len. We probably spent an hour talking on our first phone call. I asked him to tell me the complete story of his work as a therapist. He explained that he worked at Hawaii State Hospital for four years. That ward where they kept the criminally insane was dangerous. Psychologists quit on a monthly basis. The staff called in sick a lot or simply quit. People would walk through that ward with their backs against the wall, afraid of being attacked by patients. It was not a pleasant place to live, work, or visit. Dr. Len told me that he never saw patients. He agreed to have an office and to review their files. While he looked at those files, he would work on himself. As he worked on himself, patients began to heal.

After a few months, patients that had to be shackled were being allowed to walk freely, he told me. Others who had to be heavily medicated were getting off their medications. And those who had no chance of ever being released were being freed. I was in awe. Not only that, he went on, but the staff began to enjoy coming to work. Absenteeism and turnover disappeared. “We ended up with more staff than we needed because patients were being released, and all the staff was showing up to work. Today, that ward is closed.”

“This is where I had to ask the million dollar question: ‘What were you doing within yourself that caused those people to change? I was simply healing the part of me that created them,’ he said. I didn’t understand. Dr. Len explained that total responsibility for your life means that everything in your life- simply because it is in your life–is your responsibility. In a literal sense the entire world is our creation.

Whew. This is tough to swallow. Being responsible for what I say or do is one thing. Being responsible for what everyone in my life says or does is quite another. Yet, the truth is this: if you take complete responsibility for your life, then everything you see, hear, taste, touch, or in any way experience is your responsibility because it is in your life. This means that terrorist activity, the president, the economy or anything you experience and don’t like–is up for you to heal. They don’t exist, in a manner of speaking, except as projections from inside you. The problem isn’t with them, it’s with you, and to change them, you have to change you.

I know this is tough to grasp, let alone accept or actually live. Blame is far easier than total responsibility, but as I spoke with Dr. Len, I began to realize that healing for him and in ho ‘oponopono means loving yourself. “If you want to improve your life, you have to heal your life. If you want to cure anyone, even a mentally ill criminal you do it by healing you.”

I asked Dr. Len how he went about healing himself. What was he doing, exactly, when he looked at those patients’ files? “‘I just kept saying, ‘I’m sorry’ and ‘I love you’ over and over again,’ he explained. ‘That’s it?’ ‘That’s it.’ Turns out that loving yourself is the greatest way to improve yourself, and as you improve yourself, you improve your world.

Let me give you a quick example of how this works: one day, someone sent me an email that upset me. In the past I would have handled it by working on my emotional hot buttons or by trying to reason with the person who sent the nasty message.

This time, I decided to try Dr. Len’s method. I kept silently saying, ‘I’m sorry’ and ‘I love you,’ I didn’t say it to anyone in particular. I was simply evoking the spirit of love to heal within me what was creating the outer circumstance. Within an hour I got an e-mail from the same person. He apologized for his previous message. Keep in mind that I didn’t take any outward action to get that apology. I didn’t even write him back. Yet, by saying ‘I love you,’ I somehow healed within me what was creating him.

I later attended a ho ‘oponopono workshop run by Dr. Len. He’s now 7o years old, considered a grandfatherly shaman, and is somewhat reclusive. He praised my book, The Attractor Factor. He told me that as I improve myself, my book’s vibration will raise, and everyone will feel it when they read it. In short, as I improve, my readers will improve. “What about the books that are already sold and out there?” I asked. ‘They aren’t out there,’ he explained, once again blowing my mind with his mystic wisdom. ‘They are still in you.’ In short, there is no out there. It would take a whole book to explain this advanced technique with the depth it deserves. Suffice It to say that whenever you want to improve anything in your life, there’s only one place to look: inside you. When you look, do it with love.

Whatever you are giving your attention to activates the same vibration in you. It becomes your point of attraction; it becomes your point of allowing. It might be a good idea for you to decide what you want to take active within your vibration. Abraham-Hicks
