Dreams in The Land of Kurosawa

The film Dreams by Akira Kurosawa (1910-1998) is one of my very favorite films of all time. Dream vignettes taking us through a landscape of the his own beautifully crafted dreamtime . Dreams in their elusive form play out with texture, color and scope is a delightful expression in snippets of beauty or disturbing mystery. Village of Water Mills is one of my favorite scenes in the film. The videos here appear in Pts. 1 & 2

As I was watching these clips our current crisis in Japan came front and center. We are given the gift of dreaming and praying a balanced world for all. Balance provides ~ balance provides; and in that balance we thrive in the natural cycles and rhythms of life and death. Birth is a gift, death is a gift and everything in between is a gift to nurture and share. Out of balance loss creates the potential for devastating tragedy and the pain and suffering is insurmountable. Whether through the hands of humankind or the rumblings and shiftings of the living planet, life and loss are part of our co-existence. May the hands and hearts of humanity not create that which exacerbates the natural rumblings of our world and may we put our hearts towards that which creates the greatest balance. So to Akira Kurosawa who is no longer with us in the here and now and to the people and country of Japan ~ love and prayers.
